India Garden Pleasanton - Healthy Choices Downtown

India Garden Pleasanton – Based on their menu...if you can avoid huge amounts of sauce and other "unknowns" you can make healthy choices...stick with proteins (i.e. meats) and veggies and you'll be good.

Before you head out to India Garden in Downtown Pleasanton check out my choices below from their menu.

Appetizers – you see a lot of fried and bready things…but the options below are baked…so go with these if you get an appetizer
  • Chicken Wings
  • Chicken Seekh Kabab
  • Lamb Seekh Kabab

Salads & Soups – stick with salads as the soups are liquid calories with unknown ingredients (we’re talking the broth likely has oils you don’t want)

  • Tandoori Chicken Salad – dressing on the side…gives you your vegetables and protein with the chicken

Wraps – but I would avoid the wraps because they have bread and definitely ask for no mayo
  • Chicken Tikka looks best…if you're going with a wrap

Karahi Chicken – notice it doesn’t mention sacue/gravy/cream
Butter Chicken (Chicken Makhani)…butter is good for you…easy on the tomato sauce

Chicken/Lamb Biryani – gives you carbs (rice) and protein (chicken/lamb)

Lamb/Goat – the Karahi Lamb looks best with the veggies…you’ll notice the majority of the items in this section involve gravy and other sauces.

Rogan Josh (Lamb Curry) – this option would also be ok…nice balance of protein and vegetables…

Sea Food – the Shrimp Tikka Masala looks best…just watch all the sauces…ask for the sauce on the side or you’ll have to scrape it off and eat just enough to get the flavor

Veg-Specialties – avoid the vegetarian as the balance of proteins is not ideal

Indian Breads – an area to certainly avoid when you’re interested in fat loss

Sides – the plain home made yogurt would be an ok option here…or the Raita which includes vegetables

Desserts – pass over this section that is of course loaded with carbs…not friendly to fat loss

Beverages – possibly Masala Tea without milk…the rest have too many sugary carbs which will make you fat
