Forno Vecchio Pleasanton - Healthy Italian Options


Forno Vecchio Pleasanton – Mentions on the menu that they use local high quality ingredients…of course those are general terms that you don’t know for sure what they mean, but it’s a good sign.  And they have a relatively short and simple menu which makes things less confusing for everyone!


Before you head out to Forno Vecchio in Downtown Pleasanton check out my choices below from their menu. 



Appetizers main goal with appetizers is not to shoot your blood sugar through the roof…thus avoiding breads, potatoes and certainly fried items which will cause inflammation in your body

  • Antipasto Italiano – meats, olives and arugula salad
  • Boccino – go easy on the sauce with the hand-made meatballs



Salads & Soups avoid the soups again because they are liquid calories and you can’t be sure of the ingredients (likely vegetable oils)
  • House Salad – standard at many restaurants…dressing on the side watch the cranberries and almonds

  • Spinach Salad – dressing on the side…nice change of pace with the blueberries which are very good for you

  • Caprese Salad – tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil…ask for the glaze on the side




Lunch Entrees choose the mini-house over the Caesar salad
  • Salmon Panino – best option…just be careful how much bread you eat…preferably half as the bread containing choices are not the best options for fat loss on the menu



Pasta & Other Entrees pasta is made in-house daily which is better…but still best to avoid for fat loss 
  • Pork Loin with Apple Cider Glaze – ask for the glaze on the side
  • Passere con Pasta al Pomodoro – eat only half of the pasta... ask for sauce on the side
  • Rosemary and Lemon Baked Salmon – watch out with the creamy mushroom risotto



Kids Entrees looks like the Spaghetti and Meatballs is the best option here…your kids will get some protein unlike the other two options


Specials you never know what these might be as it says to check with your server…just remember the selection principles and you should know if it’s a good option or not
